Safety is Everyone's Responsibility

At India-Chat.org, we believe safety is a shared responsibility. Treat every user with the same dignity you would expect in person.

🔒

Guard Privacy

Never share your own or anyone else's personal information.

Personal Safety Tips for Chat Users

No moderation team can protect you from all risks. Here are essential personal safety practices every user should follow:

👤
Protect Your Identity

Use a nickname unrelated to your real name. Never share your full name, employer, or school in chat.

📍
Guard Your Location

Don't reveal your precise neighborhood, street address, or daily routine to strangers online.

💰
Never Send Money

Anyone requesting money, gift cards, UPI transfers, or crypto from a chat acquaintance is almost certainly a scammer.

📷
Be Photo-Cautious

Never share identifying photos with strangers in chat. Images can be used for harassment or extortion.

🔗
Avoid Unknown Links

Don't click links from users you don't know. Hover over links to inspect URLs before clicking.

💔
Beware Romance Scams

Emotional connection followed by a "financial emergency" is a classic scam. Walk away and report.

🤝
Real-Life Meetings

If you ever meet a chat contact in person, always meet in a very public place and tell someone you trust.

🚫
Use Block & Ignore

Type /ignore [nickname] to stop receiving messages from a user who makes you uncomfortable.

Reporting & Moderation

If you witness a rule violation or feel unsafe, act immediately:

All reports are confidential. We will never reveal who filed a report. We take every report seriously and investigate promptly.

Special Note on Religious & Caste Discussions

India is a land of extraordinary religious and cultural diversity. Discussions about religion, caste, and politics are permitted in our chat rooms, but must be conducted respectfully and without targeting specific groups for ridicule or hatred. Content that incites communal tension, promotes casteism, or demeans any religious group will result in immediate moderation action regardless of the poster's intent.
